This Saturday – tomorrow – be sure to pop into the E17 Designers Market at Vestry House Museum.
With a fabulous selection of local designer-makers selling jewellery, ceramics for the home, cushions, bags, purses, clothes, candles and much more, there’s no reason not to have a quick peek.
E17 Designers are a collection of over 60 makers exhibiting locally ten times a year. This year marks their first decade of selling in the borough and this year they are showcasing in one of the first and favourite venues they have used.
The Walthamstow Women’s Institute – the excellently named Stow Roses – will be offering corsage making to those that stop by. They’ve stitched a lovely handmade quilt, which is being raffled off to raise money for the Whipps Cross neonatal unit.
Useful Pots and Yanire Sila Delgado are both selling decorative and functional ceramics, while a wide selection of bespoke gold and silver jewellery is on sale from Malcolm Morris, Fused & Fired and Flowerie88.
The pop-up tea shop is courtesy of delicious seasonal dessert makers Crumbs Biscuits and Cakes, and DJ Auntie Maureen will be playing top nostalgic sounds, all against the backdrop of the museum’s displays.
For everyday items, try Fancy Em for cushions, Hilda Rocket for ‘Liberty’ print and felt accessories, Craftee Fox and Mika Bon Bon for printed textile bags and purses, Sue O’Hea for silk specialties and popular maker, Lovell, with her soy candles and soaps. Fashion lovers can buy new coats in bold block colours and easy to wear spring tops and dresses from designer-makers D4Discus and GLOW London, who both design clothes inspired by earlier eras, and use combinations of new and vintage fabrics.
