South African late night at William Morris Gallery

There’s another exciting late-night event at the William Morris Gallery lined up, this time with some of South Africa’s leading poets and musicians.

Join the gallery for a night of South African poetry, music and art featuring legendary percussionist and composer Eugene Skeef (above), poet Leeto Thale and DJ Matt Temple.

WMG Late: Africa Rising, on 7 April event sits alongside the gallery’s current Social Fabric exhibition.

Visitors will get the opportunity to try their hands at making music with live percussion and participatory workshops from with Skeef, and spoken word artist Thale will perform work in response to the Social Fabric exhibition, which explores South African textiles and fashion through the changing times.

There will also be a DJ set from Matt Temple, who runs the South African afro-jazz music label Matsuli Music.

The gallery’s permanent displays will be open all evening.
