Families invited to William Morris Gallery to celebrate African culture

Families are invited to a day of creativity inspired by African culture at William Morris Gallery on Saturday, 30 April.

The gallery has teamed up with African Diaspora Kids, a Waltham Forest-based organisation that connects children to the African continent so they can make a positive contribution to other children’s lives.

Families are invited to make a giant collage map of Africa, create a Tanzanian Tinga Tinga painting and handle objects from Kenya.

The three free creative activities are inspired by the William Morris Gallery’s current exhibition Social Fabric: African Textiles Today.

African Diaspora Kids founder Grace Owen said: “Partnering with the William Morris Gallery is a dream come true because of our shared values around widening participation within diverse communities.

“The Experience Africa! family day is a great way to connect with African diaspora families and all those who would like to know more about our beautiful continent.”

Family Day: Experience Africa! Saturday 30 April, 1pm – 4pm

Free: no need to book. Open to families with children of all ages.
