Over 1,000 young musicians will perform at Walthamstow Assembly Hall next month in the annual Waltham Forest Music Festival.

The venue in Forest Road will host the two-day festival on 5 and 6 July.

The music event is organised by Waltham Forest Music Service and features a variety of genres.

The performances take place from 10.30-11.15am and from 2-3pm on Tuesday, and from 1-2pm and from 7-9pm on Wednesday. Tickets are available on the door for a suggested donation of £3 per person or free for under 16s.

Waltham Forest Music Service offers lots of opportunities for young people of all abilities to play and practise a variety of instruments.

The service runs a music school at the end of the school day, with free beginner and foundation group classes, instrumental and vocal tuition and instrument hire at affordable prices.

Many young musicians who have joined the service can choose to take part in public performances. Groups from Waltham Forest have recently performed at the Barbican and Cadogan Hall in central London.

Any young person wanting to get involved with the music service can do so either by speaking to the music coordinator in their school, or by contacting the music school directly. The school runs on Monday to Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings during term time. It offers individual tuition, theory tuition and ensemble opportunities to children living in or in education in Waltham Forest.

To contact the music service email Music.Service@walthamforest.gov.uk.
