Stow Inspired, the online store for Waltham Forest, has opened its virtual doors to customers who are now free to browse and shop.
The store is the first of its kind and brings together a collection from artists, makers and small businesses in or associated with the borough, such as coffee from Perky Blenders, La Maison de Furniture, Walthamstory book Yellow Man as well as jewellery, gifts for the home and a range of products available exclusively through Stow Inspired. The platform is similar to websites such as Etsy, but instead focuses on local talent.
Founder Carole Morgan officially launched the brand at the Walthamstow Garden Party in July, as a response to the ‘amazing talent’ of local artists and businesses.
She said: “I wanted to create a place where local businesses can sell in a collective online.
“We are pleased to present a range of products not just for people in the area to purchase, but also for those across the UK.”
Stow Inspired is an ideal platform for local artists and small producers in the borough who don’t necessarily have the budget or know-how to market themselves. It will give them an opportunity to grow their collections, increase their income and gain commercial experience.
Carole said: “We hope start-ups and established small businesses in the area, including community organisations and local service providers will see Stow Inspired as a valuable platform for their products and services.”
La Maison de Furniture’s Sara Hampson said it was exciting to showcase and sell their furniture on Stow Inspired. She said: “It’s such a fantastic idea to bring together all the craftmanship and artistry E17 has to offer, and we are proud to be part of the first group of sellers.”
